WhatsApp takes security to next level with new update

Users only need to set up one secret code on their primary WhatsApp account device.

In a bid to enhance user security, WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that allows users to lock their chats on linked devices.

This means that even if your phone is connected to another device, your WhatsApp chats will remain secure and inaccessible to unauthorized users.

The feature, currently being tested on Android beta version 2.24.11.9, creates a separate “Locked Chat” folder on the main screen of the linked device. However, the existing chat lock PIN will not work on the linked device, and users will need to create a new secret code from the primary device settings to access the locked chats.

The good news is that users only need to set up one secret code on their primary WhatsApp account device, and it will sync with all linked devices, eliminating the need to set up multiple codes.

This new feature adds an extra layer of security on top of the device biometrics already in place, giving users peace of mind knowing their chats are safe from prying eyes. With WhatsApp’s commitment to user security, this feature is a welcome addition to the app’s arsenal of privacy tools.

So, if you’re an Android user and want to give this feature a try, make sure to update to the latest beta version and experience the enhanced security for yourself!
