‘Wajood’ might just be the downfall of Pakistani cinema

KARACHI: Pakistani films have been on the rise since last year with those such as Punjab Nahi Jaungi and Cake doing huge business across the world. While there are still quite a few projects lined up for release this year, another one has made it to the list.

‘7 Din Mohabbat In’ trailer is a throwback to the old school, Shakespearean kind of love

The trailer of Wajood, starring Danish Taimoor and Javed Sheikh was recently released and it might just mark a dip to the growth of Pakistani cinema.

Movie trailers are supposed to hint what the film will be about and the kind of storyline that the film revolves around. However, Wajood’strailer fails to do all of that and just features shots of Taimoor in different avatars.

Much like Chain Aye Na, Wajood seems like a disaster – like a C-grade Bollywood film. The dialogues are very OTT and so are the female leads. Unconvincing action paired with cheap romance should be a no-go zone for Pakistani cinema – or any cinema for that matter.

The only thing good about the trailer is Sheikh himself. While not much is clear about his character, the 63-year-old looks very handsome. And a lot better than 35-year-old Taimoor.

Wajood is set to hit theatres on Eidul Fitr this year, clashing with 7 Din Mohabbat In and Azaadi.
